The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach move roughly 40% of all containerized imports into the United States. If your products come from overseas, they likely land within an hour of where they should be stored. Shipping that inventory across the country to a warehouse in the Midwest just to ship part of it back west is a quiet, expensive mistake.
Here’s why a Southern California fulfillment base works for e-commerce and DTC brands selling nationally.
You’re already at the port
For brands importing from Asia or Australia, the LA and Long Beach complex is the first US touchpoint. Warehousing nearby cuts drayage cost and time. We recently handled a 20-pallet container from Australia through customs and into our Jurupa Valley facility, coordinated end to end with the customs broker. The inventory never took a detour.
The Inland Empire is built for distribution
Jurupa Valley, Perris, and the broader Inland Empire exist because of logistics. Land is more affordable than coastal LA, freeway access is direct, and you can reach a huge share of the Western US population within a one or two day ground transit window. That means lower zone-based shipping costs on every West Coast order.
Faster delivery to the largest consumer market
California alone is the largest state economy in the country. Add the rest of the West Coast and the Southwest, and a SoCal warehouse puts you within quick ground shipping of an enormous customer base. Faster delivery promises convert better at checkout and cut your support tickets.
Multi-node without the complexity
You don’t always need warehouses on both coasts to ship fast nationally. A strong West Coast node combined with smart carrier routing covers a large footprint affordably. For brands that do need more reach, starting on the West Coast and expanding east is usually cheaper than the reverse.
Real receiving infrastructure for pallets and containers
Container and pallet handling is its own skill. Receiving 20 pallets cleanly, logging them accurately, and getting them shelf-ready fast is the difference between inventory that’s sellable on day one and inventory stuck in a receiving backlog. Our 99.84% trailing 12-month order accuracy starts at the receiving dock.
Where 6G fits
We operate four Southern California facilities in Jurupa Valley, Lake Forest, Perris, and Commerce, covering receiving, storage, pick and pack, palletization, and shipping coordination. That spread lets us match your inventory to the location that ships your orders fastest and cheapest.
See what a SoCal base would cost you
If you’re importing through LA or Long Beach, or selling heavily on the West Coast, your fulfillment is probably routed less efficiently than it should be. Send us your order and import profile and we’ll map out a setup.
