Cross-Docking

Cross-Docking Services in Southern California.
Receive Today. Ship Today.

Some freight doesn’t need to sit in a warehouse. It needs to move.
Cross-docking is the process of receiving inbound freight at our dock and transferring it directly to outbound carriers the same day without putting it into long-term storage. It’s faster. It’s leaner. And for the right shipment types, it’s significantly more cost-effective than traditional warehousing.
6G Logistic operates cross-docking from four Southern California warehouse locations strategically positioned on the major freight corridors connecting the Inland Empire, Orange County, Los Angeles, and the broader Western US distribution network.
Use Cases

What Cross-Docking Is and When You Need It.

Cross-docking eliminates the storage step in your supply chain. Inbound freight arrives at our dock, gets sorted and staged, and moves directly onto outbound trucks or carriers typically within the same business day.
Process

How Our Cross-Docking Process Works

Step 1: Pre-notification
You or your vendor notifies us of the inbound shipment: carrier, expected arrival time, freight description, and outbound destination(s). We schedule dock space and outbound carrier pickup in advance.
Step 2: Inbound receiving
Freight arrives at our dock. We confirm piece count, note any visible damage, and stage by outbound destination. No long-term WMS storage entry required.
Step 3: Sorting and staging
Cartons or pallets sorted by destination and staged in our cross-dock area. Labels applied, documentation prepared.
Step 4: Outbound loading
Freight transfers directly to outbound carriers LTL, FTL, or parcel depending on destination and volume.
Same-day loading target for freight that arrives before our midday cutoff.
Step 5: Confirmation
You receive outbound tracking and a transfer confirmation. Nothing sits in our facility waiting.

Cross-Docking vs. Warehousing: When to Use Which.

Cross-docking is faster and leaner but requires more coordination upfront. Traditional warehousing gives you more flexibility and inventory buffer. Most of our clients use both warehousing for core inventory and cross-docking for time-sensitive transfers and overflow. We'll tell you honestly which makes sense for your specific freight pattern.
